Traffic Safety:
The Lebanese Red Cross regularly organizes training sessions on driving and safety regulations. The sessions, involves car drivers from different sections and the branches of the Society, organized by the Logistics and Equipment Section. The participants receive seminars, lectures, and information about reinforcing the image of the Society through safe driving, safety through using the emblem, basic maintenance in case of urgent damages, basic repairs, daily car examination, laws and rules, traffic signs, and techniques in the different driving conditions. The importance of such sessions is in elevating the level of responsibility and reinforcing information and skills.

The Lebanese Red Cross follows the issue of HIV/Aids through 3 departments: the Education, Youth, and Social Medical services. The 3 departments work on different programs including the awareness and prevention of the disease and its transmission. The education Dept. trains social workers on supporting HIV/Aids patients. The LRC Blood bank checks every blood unit to assure its safety. The LRC work on the issue is a part of the strategy of the International movement.

The Society’s volunteers, especially the Youth Department, organize various environmental campaigns which include tree-planting, tree-pruning, bushes and street cleaning in villages and cities, cleaning of rivers, riverbanks and sea shores. Also, camps are organized in all centers to promote the environmental awareness, in coordination with the municipalities and interested civil associations

School health:
School is a convenient environment for the spread of contagious diseases, due to the large number of students in classrooms. The service aims at preventing the spread of transmissible diseases among children as well as epidemic diseases that can only be prevented by vaccination, it also aims at avoiding and limiting the risks of health problems that affect the learning capability of students (vision and hearing problems, malnutrition, dental diseases, dermatological diseases...).It also includes organizing lectures and workshops to spread healthcare awareness among students and parents and helping the school to create a healthy environment through subjecting students to medical examinations twice a year by the doctor, the nurse and the social worker. Special cases will be assigned to specialized doctors.

Community Based Health and First Aids (CBHFA):
It is a work methodology based on awareness, training, and rehabilitation of the local community to enable it to confront the problems which it may face depending on its personal abilities and the interdependence and integration of its members. The most important element is:
Health education and prevention programs:
Health education and prevention programs are the cornerstones of LRC health work. Social workers and volunteers trained in health education disseminate correct health information and promote healthy habits in nutrition, hygiene, environment, prevention against common and transmissible diseases and home accidents. This is done through seminars, workshops, and audio-visual tools. Prevention programs include the early detection of breast and uterus cancer for women, blood tension and cardiac diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, liver diseases, and prostate cancer for men.

Promoting the humanitarian Norms and Values:
It is an activity that lays under the public education and calls for tolerance and solidarity, and understanding and respecting others through organizing a variety of activities addressed to youth and children. This activity is considered a vital activity because of the suffering and hardship that faced Lebanon and left a negative impact in its community in many respects. A highly skilled volunteers works on its implementation which enables them to carry out the tasks assigned to them.

Awareness programs:
The volunteers of the society organize various awareness programs which include: environmental which aims to introduce the Lebanese community to the various environmental components and its effect in our daily life and spread a good environmental behavior especially between young people and youth through organizing workshops, seminars, national and local campaigns for warning from the environmental risks in the region and world like climate change, water problems and others… in collaboration with interested municipalities and associations. The LRC also cares for rising awareness in the society, especially for youth, about Aids and sexually transmitted diseases through preparing trainees and consultants in order to transfer awareness and education through same age people, and organizing national campaigns, seminars, workshops, and flyers distribution and other direct and indirect means. Aiming to decrease the number of pedestrian and car accidents victims especially the youth, the volunteers organize various campaigns in schools and universities in particular and local community in general for the dissemination of traffic safety and sense of responsibility and for the warning from the risk of disobedience of traffic laws through visual and audio devices. In addition to this, the LRC organizes and participates in the national health campaigns which aim to aware the community to avoid diseases, epidemics, and viruses in order to build good and healthy community.

IHL: 1- Dissemination of the IHL:
  • Disseminates values, principles and history of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent and its components.
  • Disseminates goals, work and activities of the Lebanese Red Cross
  • Disseminates and explains the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) among the Lebanese community (Geneva conventions, its 2 additional protocols, and other international conventions related to humanitarian activities).
