Launching the annual fundraising campaign
    The Lebanese president General Michel Sleiman received a delegation which included the President of the Lebanese Red Cross Ms. Suzanne Oueiss, the Vice-President Ms. Maryam Ghandour, members of the Executive Committee, and the head of the ICRC Jurg Montani in the occasion of 8 of May, the International day of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which is at the same time an occasion of launching the fundraising campaign of the Lebanese Red Cross.
In this occasion, Oueiss addressed a message where she said: “8 May is the International day of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, where all the national societies in 187 countries around the world celebrated the anniversary of the founder of the Global Movement the Swedish Henry Dunant. 

    2013 is itself a celebratory year, as coincides with the 150th anniversary of establishing the International Committee of the Red Cross, which works at conflicts and wars that result victims and requires a great time and effort for its impact to be removed. The Lebanese Red Cross had implemented last year about 625,000 humanitarian services that covered all the Lebanese regions in various fields. In addition to this, the society has focused its attention according to its potential to enhance its capabilities and expand its services and network, and rehabilitation and renewal of some of its centers. All these services and activities hadn’t been realized without the support of philanthropists at home and abroad and the support from the institutions and the care and confidence from all levels of the Lebanese society and all its categories. 

    On the occasion of launching the annual fundraising campaign which motto is: "if you can’t be one of us, be with us, “we can reaffirm that every competent person can contribute in supporting the Lebanese Red Cross in order to stay as much responsible as can be”
